I have an important announcement to make!

As many of you know, for years I held weekly Bible studies in Orange County, California. We started at Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa, then did a number of years at The Grove of Anaheim, and we also spent time at Mariners Church in Irvine.

As a matter of fact, the Harvest Crusades sprung from this initial Monday night study at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa.

It is not an overstatement to say that thousands of people have made commitments to Christ in those outreaches over the years. I can’t tell you how many people I have personally spoken with who came to Christ in one of these Bible studies.

For the last few years, we have focused on other areas of ministry, including our Harvest Crusades. But lately, I have felt led by the Lord to start teaching and preaching in the OC again.

So here is the announcement.

Starting March 12, I will be speaking every Thursday night in Orange County, California. We are calling it Thursdays with Greg Laurie.

What is it?

It will be a Bible study based on a series of messages that I am calling Essentials. In this foundational set of teachings, we will look at topics like prayer, Bible study, heaven, hell, angels, Satan, temptation, trials, the family, last days events, and much, much more.

With a growing rate of what I would call “biblical illiteracy,” I think the time is right to teach biblically on things every believer needs to know about. Pretty much, you name it, we will probably deal with it, hence the title Essentials. Things we need to know about as followers of Jesus.

And we will have our amazing Harvest Worship Band with us every week.

When is it?

Again, every Thursday night, starting March 12, 2009. It will begin at 7:00 P.M.

Where is it?

This weekly study will be held at the Free Chapel OC building, located on Jamboree Boulevard, between the 5 and 405 freeways. The address is 2777 McGaw Avenue, Irvine, CA 92614.

We have leased their facility and will be sharing space with them for events we will have there. Essentially, it’s two congregations, one facility.

There is a very large cross in the parking lot, right in front of the building, that is hard to miss.

New Web site coming

A special Web site is under construction at present that we will be launching ASAP.

This Web site will feature service archives and special opportunities for you to interact with us in new and fun ways. So, even if you are not in the area and cannot attend in person, you can still be a part of these Thursday night events.

Follow the cross!

Until then, just mark the date and place, and I will see you there!

I look forward to seeing all of my OC friends and anyone else who wants to join us on Thursday, March 12.

So just follow the cross and you will find your way! Hey, I could preach a sermon on that! 🙂

    Dear Pastor Greg,
Thank you so much for all you do. I look forward to your new Thursday services, but will have to view them online as that is quite a way from Ventura County. Is there a good Bible-based church you would recommend in the Thousand Oaks area. My pastor was transferred 3-4 years ago and since then I have felt like I am drifting. Your daily messages in my in box have been my saving grace. Thanks again, Diane

    Pastor Greg:

I’m so excited to hear/see you back in the OC. I sat under your teaching for years at Costa Mesa and went to Israel with you a num ber of years ago. The annointing God has placed on your life is phenomenal, and I look forward to hearing what God has through you for us. If you have volunteer opportunities, please let me know.

Since you left, I moved to Ocean Hills Church with Skip for a season. We still have Rick Myers (thanks for sharing). And I am a volunteer chaplain now for the OCSD. All by the grace of God and your sound teaching.

Blessings and grace to you as you continue to live for His glory. <

I have an important announcement to make too! I am so happy to have the opportunity to see my “one of very few” favorite pastors preach. Greg used to drive me nuts when I heard his voice. I’d think, “Augh, it’s him again.” But now I just can’t hear enough about the Lord when He speaks! I am happy to come and see him the next two Thursdays. Other Thursdays, I am part of the Joyful Life Thursday Evenings at Calvary Costa Mesa.

I’m so stoked for tomorrow. God has been moving in my life, as well as my family, and I couldn’t ask for anything more. Agape

Greg, I just read your daily e-mail about storms. I have been in a storm that has lasted years with an alcoholic husband. Greg, it is a long story. I wont tell all that but I have grown very weary of years of battle. I love the Lord, I love the Word. But lately the promises fall to the ground for me. God has kept my heart strong, loving my husband through all the years of alcoholic abuse. He is a good man, just not when he drinks. He is hurting. Rock bottom is a crappy place to be.

Greg, I am having trouble holding on. I don’t want to survive anymore. I want victory. Hard not to feel forgotten when day after day after week after week after month after month after year go by with no breakthrough. God is here, or my Kevin would be dead. I keep reading about victory but it never comes.

    Bless you, Sharon Smith

I’m so happy to hear you’re coming back to OC. I attended your services at the Groove and that’s were I met the Lord. I live in Irvine, so I’m in the neighborhood. I will be there on Thursdays! I will invite people I know that don’t know the Lord and pray that they will hear God speak to them. God bless you, Pastor Greg, and looking forward to joining you for some Bible study.

    Dear Pastor Greg,

I’m really excited about the Thursday night Bible study. In fact, God is doing great things through the company I work for, Safety Environmental Consulting. Our company, from the top to the bottom, honors God in everything we do. We’re 11 employees strong and, as the company’s chaplain, we’re all excited to attend your Bible study and draw closer to the Lord. Our prayers are with you as you lead this study. God Bless you, Greg, and we’ll see you Thursday.

  9. Michael says:

This is awesome. We have been driving 2 hours for midweek services and have been praying that we would find a place closer to home again. Your being led is answered prayer, and we look forward to seeing you Thursday nights. God Bless you and your precious family.

    Dear Pastor Greg,

Two weeks ago, I drove to Harvest from San Pedro for the Wednesday night service. I gave myself two hours to get there, which I thought would be plenty of time. I thought I would get there a half hour before service. Well, I arrived ten minutes late. BUT, the whole time I was driving, I was so excited and keep telling Jesus, no probs, it’s for You and I cannot wait. I didn’t care how long it took. Service was awesome . . . took me 45 minutes to get back to San Pedro.

So, two days goes by and bam! Now, you are coming to OC. Thank You, Jesus! The Lord answered my prayer! That night on the drive, I asked him to please get Pastor Greg closer. What a blessing for all of us! I live in Carlsbad, but I take care of my mom, who lives in San Pedro, so I’m driving quite a bit and now you are in the “middle.” Thank you, Pastor Greg! I pray for you and all of your family. God Bless you and see you Thursday!

  11. Ana says:

I am so happy, it seems like the answer to my prayers. I am looking forward to go on Thursdays, every single one of them. I’ve learned so much from Greg Laurie, and because of my endless search for Jesus, I am sure it will be a blessing.

Can’t wait, I will spread the news and try to take my friends but also the most important person, my husband Craig.
    Thank you.

I’m excited to hear your going to be teaching a Bible study in the O.C. on Thursdays. We will be there. My husband and I got saved at a Monday night service at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa about 15 years ago. We now serve in full-time music ministry and have been traveling the world preaching the gospel through hip hop and r&p (rhythm and praise) were known as Mista and Mrs. Taylor. Just wanted to share with you some of the fruit of your labor. You’ve played such a big part in our lives and the lives of all the people we’ve touched as well. Much love and peace, Teresa Taylor.

    Praise the Lord!
Thank you, Pastor Greg, for returning to the mission field of Orange County.

Greg, I now live in Prescott, Arizona. Moved here in 1979. I was a liquor salesman when I got saved. Later went to Calvary Bible College in Twin Peaks. My daughter went to CCBC in Temecula Bridal College and met her husband there. LOL. I really like living in Prescott, but would love to attend your Thursday night studies. My wife and I had attended many Monday night studies of yours in Costa Mesa and my brother-in-law was saved there (that’s a great story in itself). Just want to say I love you and your family. I’m sure this new study will have an incredible impact on Southern California. God knows the time is at hand. Woody

  15. Michelle says:

I’m thrilled that you’re coming back to O.C.! My family and I attend CCCM, and I attended Monday nights, The Grove, and plan to attend the new Thursdays with Greg! We have wondered about the large cross in passing, and are looking forward to being a part of your new study!

I just spent a half hour typing my heart out to you about my former husband finally reading one of your books, how I will be at the OC location on March 12, how much your message “How to Find a New Husband” is grabbing my heart the past few mornings at 5:30 on KWVE, how I’ve missed the “gathering of the brethren” in Riverside (I used to drive to first service from Anaheim, but started streaming the services when gas prices went nuts), and am so happy the OC will once again be blessed by your teaching, and how I’ll bring a lady coworker, and maybe more.

Anyway, don’t know what I did, but I somehow deleted that message. Good thing, for your eyes! You have been an inspiration to me since the “divine appointment” when I “accidentally” discovered you telling the story of the Prodigal Son in June of ’97.

I sense God working again through you in my life, and also in my “old” husband. We divorced in 1987 after 17 years of marriage. Could he finally be coming to the Lord , about to be knocked off his horse, even though he says “I’m not sure about going into this God thing whole hog”? I am 65 to his 67. I know God will direct the next few years. Beyond completely trusting Him, nothing else matters. I love what you said to Cathe before you got married: “Don’t ever try to come between me and my relationship to the Lord,” or something like that (from Lost Boy). That’s how I feel Greg, even though there is some sort of spark of possible. Nothing and no one can separate me from the relationship I have developed with Jesus over the years. I read 1 Peter 3 with you this morning, and can only wait on the Lord for his direction.

Thank you, God Bless you, and I’ll see and hear you next week in Irvine! Kas Hemsworth

    Pastor Greg,

God is really using you in a way that all His children need in this current time. I will try to find my way out that way on some Thursdays.

    This is really exciting.
