What Christopher Laurie was thankful for

Brittany, Stella, and Christopher Laurie.

I have shared this e-mail from my son Christopher before, but since we are giving thanks, I thought I would post it again.

This was written a few months before he was suddenly called to heaven. He clearly had his priorities in order.

We miss him very much, and we were and are very proud of him.

I am so thankful for what the Lord has done in my life the last couple years. I want what He wants for me.

I have been blessed with the most wealth I ever wanted: loving parents and a brother who serves the Lord and desires Him first, a beautiful wife who knows Jesus, a beautiful daughter with another on the way.

I am truly rich and no man can take those things from me.

What a way to be thankful! A new life to celebrate with the assurance of God’s love and presence in the lives of each member in your beautiful family. Pastor Greg, all this is a confirmation of God’s mercy.

We all were saddened with you when tragedy struck your family…and today, we are thankful because you have received the blessing of a new baby, a gift from above and a gift from your loving son Chris!

    We love you all!

I am so happy for you and your family. I was thinking about Christopher the other day. I know it is not the same, bringing in little Lucy without him, but stick close to his wife. Fill in the void as much as you can. I will be praying. What a thing to be thankful for.

Beautiful! A beautiful life and family. You and Cathe did a great job raising such a thoughtful young man. At Thanksgiving our family enjoys using the word Thanksgiving as an acrostic for what we are thankful for. This year the first ‘G’ represents God for us, but the second ‘G’ we are thankful for is you and your ministry. You have blessed us and each time we read this blog we are touched and stirred. I was at your book signing at Fashion Island, went home and started your “Lost boy” book. Couldn’t put it down. It reminded me how the Lord hears the prayers, even of a young child, and intricately weaves the scenario that is our life. There are no mistakes with him. He sifts everything through His love. God bless your family this Thanksgiving. What better gift from the Lord than a new life to be born any day. A gift also from Christopher to the family.

If only more of us could have our priorities in such order. God bless and Happy Thanksgiving to yo and your family Greg.
