Does America Need Israel More Than Israel Needs America?

As you know, there is serious conflict in the Middle East again. Hamas, an organization that supports terrorism, has been bombing Israel repeatedly. Missiles have landed in Tel Aviv and even Jerusalem, setting off air-raid sirens. 745 rockets have been fired at Israel since Wednesday! Altogether, some 1500 rockets have been fired at Israel in 2012.

As President Obama correctly pointed out, Israel has “every right” to defend itself against missile attacks by militants inside Gaza. It should be noted that Hamas deliberately targets Israeli civilians while shooting from within populated areas, such as near mosques, hospitals, and schools.

Hamas, with the backing of Iran, is stirring this pot and the leader of Iran has already stated his “end game.” Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran has vowed to “wipe Israel off the map.” He said, “They ask, ‘Is it possible for us to witness a world without America and Zionism?’ But you had best know that this slogan and this goal are altogether attainable, and surely can be achieved. The regime that is occupying Jerusalem must be wiped off the map.”

Why this hostility toward Jerusalem? Because she plays a key role in the last days. Zechariah 12:2-3 says, “I will make Jerusalem and Judah like an intoxicating drink to all the nearby nations that send their armies to besiege Jerusalem. On that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone, a burden for the world.”

Dr. John Walvoord, a very respected expert on Bible prophecy has said, “The prophecies about Jerusalem make it clear that the Holy City will be in the center of the world events in the end time. . . .The conflict between Israel and the Palestinian Arabs will focus more and more attention on Jerusalem. . . .In all of these situations Jerusalem is the city to watch, as the city of prophetic destiny prepares to act out her final role.”

The Bible tells us to “pray for the peace of Jerusalem.” Yet, we know that the people of the conflicts in the Middle East will not find real peace until Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, returns to establish His eternal kingdom.

As Americans, let’s remember to pray for our friends in Israel as they face this increasing conflict.

Let me make a controversial statement:
In some ways, America needs Israel more than Israel needs America.

Years ago, God made a promise to the patriarch Abraham and to his descendants, the Jewish people. The Lord said, “I will bless those that bless you, and I will curse him who curses you” (Genesis 12:3). As we stand by the only true democracy in the Middle East, the Jewish homeland, Israel, I believe that God will bless our country as a result. I pray that America will stand by our friend and true ally Israel at this critical time.

I am in agreement with the body of Christ to Pray for our Friends, Israel.

  2. Bill Hayward says:

The US at its highest level of leadership, should fear God and His judgements against those who try to fix the situation in the Middle East. As far as Blessing and Cursing those who do the same to Israel, does it seem strange what is happening in Syria? The Syrians backed Hezbollah and Iran, especially sanctioning the movement of arms through its territory a couple of years back. Israel was then attacked with rockets from the strongholds in Lebabnon, and a short war ensued. Does it not register with those at the top???

I pray that God help Jerusalem and Israel,He will give peace in Jesus Mighty Name.

  4. Dan Morat says:

God said in Genesis 12:3 “I will bless those that bless thee & curse those that curse thee.” I would say America needs Israel than Israel needs America. I also say let’s get out & spread the gospel(good news) so more people will come to know Jesus Christ as their LORD & Savior.

  5. Daniel says:

Which leg does a dog need most? – his left or his right? He needs both to function.
In the body of Christ which is more needed? – to eat or to excrete? Without either =death.
Obviously it is God’s will that we bless and be blessed. We need to pray for the peace of Jerusalem and Israel…the same way that if part of your body is injured then the other parts of your body will tend to its needs.

I truly believe that God has blessed America because of our support and prayers for Israel. I don’t know what might happen if we turn our back against Israel. Let us continue to pray for President Obama and for our entire nation not to get weary and continue our support for Israel.

I agree with you in your consensus of what is happening. As a Jewish believer, I know and believe what the bible says in the last days written in Revelation. My current concern is that no matter what Israel does to defend themselves, they are condemned by every nation.

Hamas and the other terrorist factions in the Middle East attacking Israel do it by using their own people, women and children as human shields. As long as they continue to fire rockets and use bombs to kill innocent people in Israel, I do not see anyway for Israel to not end up having to unfortunately kill many innocent people in the Gaza Strip in their effort to eliminate the rockets from being fired.
Prayer is much needed at this time.

  14. Bill says:

I too believe the end days are very near. I am very concerned for Israel and for our nation. We need to support Israel and in doing so we will make enemies of many nations. God has promised to bless those who bless Israel and curse those who curse Israel. He will keep His promise.

Iam just learning about this. But i will be praying for the Holy Land and the people!

  16. Victoria Whitlock says:

    God Bless us….
    God help us all…

  17. Tom says:

If God says it in his Word, would it not be foolish for us to disagree, rationalize, or justify a contrary opinion? America is on dangerous grounds when its leadership refuses to acknowledge Jerusalem as the capitol, play politics with the enemies of Israel, and coddle up to the Muslim Brotherhood and its spread in our own country. Yes, we need Israel. We need to pray our leadership will realise this as well

  18. Mark says:

As a Jewish believer in the Messiah, thank you for your love and support of Israel. God will bless and remember you for your prayers and thoughts.

  19. Rae L. Merritt says:

I very often include in my prayers, “bless you chosen people and bless the city of Jerusalem with peace and the presence of your hand of protection and the power of the Holy Spirit to reveal the greatest gift any and all have ever received. Salvation through Jesus Christ. “Come Lord Jesus Come”

    Maranatha…..Rae of hope.

  20. Lark says:

I believe the last days are closer than we realize too. I am so worried for this country. Especially since the word of God has been removed from so many parts of what this country stands for. I am afraid that the people in America will fail to see what is right before their eyes if they don’t find the Lord. I pray each day for our country and the situations we face as a nation ( under God) I know that Israel is an important part of the last days. As we pray for them let us also pray for fellow Americans who need our Lord and Savior. I truly believe that we need Israel more than they need us as they are God’s people and the thoughts of anyone trying to destroy the city of Jerusalem is a very frightening thing. The Holy Lands are the very heart of our Lord and Savior.
