I am so sorry to tell you that our friend Pastor Chuck Smith has died.

As most of you know, Chuck has been battling cancer for a couple of years now.

As Pastor Chuck fought this dreaded disease, he still maintained a very full schedule of preaching and serving the Lord to the very end.

I can’t help but think of the apostle Paul’s words to Timothy:

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.¬†Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” (2 Tim 4:7-8)

Rarely does a man come along that impacts a generation, but Chuck Smith was that man.

He certainly impacted my life.

Chuck is now in heaven and he will certainly hear the Lord say, “Well done, good and faithful servant . . . Now enter the joy of the Lord!” (Matthew 25:23).

There is much more I will say in the days ahead, but for now let’s remember to pray for Chuck’s family and his congregation, Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa.

Thank you for posting this wonderful heart piercing interview. How thankful I am to Christ for moving in Chicks life and for all who pursue with a passion to introduce the world to the Love of God. Let us all press on and carry the baton which Chuck has passed to us. To God be the Glory!

Pastor Chuck was beloved by all who knew him. I had the pleasure of attending Calvary Bible College for two semesters and got to know him better. Previous to that I had listened to The Word for Today on a daily basis before going to work. My mom also was a regular and loved Pastor Chuck. No doubt she has already been one of the many to welcome him home.

  3. Roger Donald says:

Although I wasn’t one, I was saved during the “Jesus Freak” generation. Pastor Chuck was standing in the middle of it. Someone gave me one of his tapes and from then on I grew strong in the Lord. Via his tapes, he taught me to walk in the Spirit and see the Lord’s hands pushing me forward. I’m looking forward to meeting him.

Through the years, since Pastor Chuck Smith began the “The Word for the Day,” ministry, my life has been enriched by his consistent biblical based teachings. It seemed no matter where my husband and I were stationed around the world, his voice would come up on Christian radio. His life was a beacon in this dark world and thanks to His obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ, many have followed Jesus and continue in great ministry until that great day when Jesus returns. God bless all of those who have continued in the path of righteousness.

Thank you, Pastor Greg, for sharing your interviews with Pastor Chuck. It is last year’s interview with Pastor Chuck where I really came to know the man, the shepherd, the friend of God that he was. I am still walking in the impact of that interview, and now there’s the latest and last one that will impact my life until I move into eternity. Pastor Chuck lived out the LOVE OF JESUS throughout his life and I am grateful for the legacy he left behind.

  9. Chris says:

I have listened to Chuck Smith almost everyday for the last seven years. Although I have never met the man, like Jesus, I feel I can call him my friend. He has been there everyday ministering to me during some of the most difficult times of my life. He has been the light on the mountain; the exception in a fallen world. I will miss his leadership, humbleness and kindness. Please join me prayer for the leaders that will be carrying on for Chuck Smith.

Thank you for a life well-lived. It’s only recently that I’ve known about you and your ministry, and yet, watching this video and listening to your life and how it has been lived, I am so much blessed. Thank you.

  12. David Geipel says:

Chuck Smith was faithful to the call of God on his life. The evidence is amazing fruit that was planted and has grown into a harvest. Churches, pastors, families, souls & lives changed. As the “founder of the Jesus Movement” among many things, it’s a reminder we should get on our knees and pray for another ‘Jesus Movement’ #JESUS #REVIVAL #PRAYER … And Come Lord Jesus Come!

  13. Ina Cordes says:

We were blessed to listen to Pastor Chuck for years on tapes as we went through the Bible with him. Never once did he ask for one red cent. My husband didn’t know Genesis from Revelation and ended up as Asso. Pastor in our church and still teaches a Bible class. We thank God for Pastor Chuck and look forward to seeing him in heaven.

  14. Velvet Rose says:

We have truly lost a “Great” man, a Godly man, a man that will stay in one’s heart forever. I was scanning the radio on Thusday when I accidentaly heard, as I didnot know he had been ill. I was grief stricken, and shocked. I am crying many tears over this, and it is like losing somebody out of your own family. Thank you so much Pastor Chuck for your “Great” work. God’s chosen one. Everytime you spoke, and the music you prepared, was always such an impact, on my life. You were “Humble” and I loved that. You were “true blue” not a show off. What “grace”. Truly one of a kind. No one will ever be able to take your place, ever! Your voice will never be forgotten, but will increase now, more then ever. You are the nicest and most wise man in California as far as I’m concern. Most of all, you did what the Lord instructed you to do, and honored him. Farewell my friend, as i wave you on in your journey to heaven. God bless you from Rose a widow lady….in calif.

  15. Chris Behr says:

Prayers and love for Pastor Chuck’s family. We are so fortunate for all the souls Pastor Chuck touched and all those who learned directly from him (Greg Lurie, Pastor Skip, Mike McIntosh, Raul Reis, and even his daughter, Cheryl, is a delight to listen to). Can’t wait to see Chuck in Heaven!

  16. Kelly Boranian says:

I remember how much Pastor Chuck loved little children. One day I was walking across the courtyard at Calvary Chapel with my two kids they were very young holding hands as they followed me. Pastor Chuck with someone else walked behind us, Pastor Chuck said “isn’t that cute!”
I am so thankful for Pastor Chuck’s faithfulness to the Lord and teaching God’s word! Kelly Boranian

I can’t thank God enough for leading me to Pastor Chuck on the radio. His tapes were so instrumental in grounding me in my faith since I dedicated my life to
Jesus in 1980. I will be eternally grateful
for all the work God has done through the faithful Pastors at Calvary who studied
under Pastor Chuck. God Bless you always
    Forever in Jesus name
