East Coast Trip

Hey Everyone,

Guess where I am?
New York City!

Without question, NYC is my all-time favorite city. It’s noisy, crazy, congested, and full of action.

I am here through this weekend to speak at a Harvest Christian Fellowship we planted here, way back in 1982. Back then, we were doing some events here due to the amazing response to our radio program, A New Beginning. Yes, we have been on that long . . . actually even longer! Those events ultimately resulted in a church plant with a great guy and good friend named Mike Finizio leading it. Mike was raised in Hoboken, New Jersey, and knows the city like the back of his hand.

I will be speaking at Harvest New York this Sunday at 11:00 A.M., Eastern Time, so if you are around, come join us (harvestnyc.org).

You probably know that we are doing a lot of outreach later this year here on the East Coast, including:

  • A full-blown three-night Harvest Crusades event in Philadielphia, October 3-5.
  • A one-night Harvest Crusades event at the historic Madison Square Garden on Sunday, October 19.

I am really looking forward to all these events, but especially the one at the Garden, a legendary venue where Billy Graham held his historic New York Crusade 51 years ago.

One of the things I aways do when I travel is get a cafe latte! I allow myself one latte a day, otherwise I start getting too fat, or should I say, fatter! 🙂

Some baristas create such cool designs with the foam that I take photos of them! I know, you are thinking, “he has too much time on his hands!” Actually, I just like attention to detail, even if it’s the foam on a latte.

Here is one that blew my mind. I shot it with my iPhone last year in Wellington, New Zealand.

NZ Latte

Here is one from our last trip to NYC. It looks like the logo from our church, Harvest Christian Fellowship!

NYC Latte

I shot this one today. I love it!

OK, talk to you guys later.

I love the little things like that too! All of those pics would look great matted and framed with a little Scripture under it. I’d buy it!

dude, Greg. I saw you in Manhattan, I was gonna say HI but I didn’t want to be like one of those people who see celebrities and get star struck. HAHA.

    Pastor Greg,

I listen to you all the time on Hope FM in South New Jersey. I can’t wait to go to the crusade in Philly coming in October. You are awesome. I am a new Christian and you helped me come closer to God in understanding him a little more through the radio sermons. I can’t wait until your book comes out. I am hanging in to find out what happened to your Mom. I am glad you survived and came through this. All things are possible with God. You are so real! Continue success in spreading the word of Jesus.

Well, unfortunately I’m not a coffee drinker, but… I wanted to say that I was looking forward to seeing you at Harvest in NY. I live only 20 minutes away. I have never been to that church (I go to a catholic church 3 minutes away from my house). I asked my sister and a colleague of mine to come with me since I’ve never been there before. Well, needless to say, nobody wanted to go. Everybody had an excuse. I almost didn’t go because I didn’t want to feel awkward. But, I made it! It was very uplifting, and you made me smile many times. Sorry I didn’t shake your hand to say thank you and it’s always a pleasure listening to you and the many questions I have about so many things. The line was too big, and I’m very shy. I can’t wait to see you again. God Bless!

Pastor Greg – I have heard you are quite the cartoonist. Just wondering if you order your latte’s and then sit at your table and make designs with the foam?!

P.S. I’m a latte girl as well… with vanilla of course! 🙂 I’m so happy God created lattes!

    Pastor Greg,
I thank God for your steadfast devotion to the the Lord. I got saved when I was 23 years old. I was literally at hell’s gates when the Lord spoke to me. I was scared that I was going to get arrested because I was on drugs and was parked in front of someones house, but the Lord spoke to me and said, “This is not about going to jail, this is about heaven and hell.” That was the first time I ever heard the Lord’s voice!! It’s been 12 years now and I’m still in awe of the fact that He loved me before I first loved Him.

Thanks for asking about a possible future Crusade in Australia. Over the years, I have done four Harvest Crusades events down under, and love my Aussie friends.

Unfortunately, we don’t have any Crusades scheduled at this time anywhere in Oz. However, we are looking into your neighbor country, New Zealand, where an invitation may be coming together.

FYI, Harvest Ministries does not pick an area and just go and hold an event there. We come at the invitation of churches. So talk to your pastor, Amee. We are always looking for places where the local church is ready to come together and spread the gospel of Christ.

God bless and, as they say in Australia, “Good on ya!”

  11. Amee says:

It is great that you and your team are able to travel America and spread God’s word; AND that you are incredibly busy… BUT … any chance of an Australian trip in the future?

Back on the blog. I will definitely attend the crusade in Philly, PA. It’s very near Dover, DE where we live. Pastor Greg, have fun in NYC. We will keep you in our prayers this Sunday.

I know the NY outreach will be great. I did enjoyed hearing about how coffee shops are decorating with the foam and the picture. As simple as that way, it made me smile. Thank you for sharing.

I’ve lived such a sheltered Starbuckian life. I had no idea that people actually made ART with the foam on coffee! Which leads me to think, “How long does this art take to make, and, how irritated are the people in line behind you because somone is making art out of something that will be destroyed in one small sip?” Actually really neat. God’s creativity & beauty just finding another expression.

I have a similar coffee strategy, one cappuccino a day and then an unlimited amount of americanos after that. Its just espresso and water and won’t do any damage to the waist line. Speaking of gaining weight, make sure to have a reuben at the Carnegie deli! That one sandwich is probably a weeks worth of calories but worth every bite. Extra points if you post a picture of you in front of the giant pickle in the window!!
