It’s Monday

Hey everyone! I trust you had a blessed weekend.

This is a big week for us at Harvest Ministries, as we are putting the finishing touches on Lost Boy: The Documentary.

Whew! I had no idea when we undertook this project more than two years ago that it would be such a production. Every song and photo has to have special permission granted for use, so there is a lot of detailed work going on here, but I am happy to report that we are right on schedule.

The good thing is that in the last few months, I have come across some great video footage from the Jesus Movement days that we did not previously have. This will really help with the telling of my story.

New Lost Boy song!

Plus, the very talented musical team of Hanz Ives, Steve Wiggins, and Billy Batstone even wrote a song for the movie called . . . you guessed it . . . “Lost Boy”!

Lost Boy: The Documentary will premiere at Harvest Christian Fellowship this coming Sunday, June 22, at 6:00 p.m., Pacific Time. It will also be streamed online, so make sure you tune in!

One pastor’s take on Lost Boy: The Documentary

I recently showed a rough version of Lost Boy: The Documentary at a senior pastors conference for Calvary Chapel pastors from around the world.

Pastor Chuck introduced the film, and one pastor in particular was not all that excited about seeing it. He even blogged about it, and I appreciated his honesty.

He wrote:

“Now we have to watch a movie about him (Greg Laurie) and he is in it. C’mon man!

But I hung around the back door to watch a bit of it and see where it would go. Then my shoulder started to hurt because I had my bag on it so I put it down. I was still watching. Then my feet started to get tired because I was standing by the door leaning on nothing. I was still
watching. So I went in and sat up against the A/V booth on the floor right in the center aisle. I was still watching.

This was no “Greg Laurie is the most humble man on the planet and he wants you to know it” video. This really was about what God had done in Greg’s horrible life, how God worked patiently on Greg through his life, and how God called and equipped Greg to do something he never dreamed of doing. It would be like if Paul had made a movie about his life. When you read Paul’s testimony in Acts, he is talking about himself, but he is also talking about what Jesus did. This 50-minute video wasn’t about Greg, it was about the Lord.

In all honesty and humility, when the video was over, I wanted to get up, walk down that middle aisle that was right in front of me, kneel down, and get saved again. Or receive my calling again. Or something. It was as though God was shining a spotlight into my heart and showing me all kinds of stuff.”

I am so thankful he felt that this film was not about me, but really about the Lord, because that was my aim. I hope you will see it the same way.

So please be praying as we are putting the finishing touches on Lost Boy: The Documentary.

    Pastor Laurie;

First of all, I would like to say I am so sorry for your loss of your son. In a different way, I understand your loss. I lost my dad June 14th 2007. I miss him terribly as I’m sure you miss your son.

    Hey Pastor Greg,

Outstanding Lost Boy song. I’m not surprised those wonderful musicians have once again blessed us with their talents.

Looking forward to the documentary. Hope it’ll be viewed via internet for us long-distant folks.

Just received my copy of Lost Boy today. Can’t wait to start reading; although, I thought I purchased a copy that was autographed. Oh, well. Next time I’m in Riverside, I’ll stop by for that signature. Say, are you considering a “books on CD” version of Lost Boy? I spend a lot of time in my car which is equipped with a sizable library of your messages on CD which I listen to continually.

Take care and have a blessed crusade season…..lots of prayers comin’ your way.

What a story! How a natural man can be supernaturally touched by God. A story of redemption, a story of restoration, a story of demonstration. Yes, the power of the truth of the Gospel to transform any life. Greg your story has challenged me no matter if you are in front of one or one hundred, simply give them Jesus. Thank you, casey
